While talking about gender roles in class I felt a strong impression that we are over complicating things. It is no secret that the way we behave effects other people and in the early years of life we are very impressionable. Being in masculine home will help you develop masculine traits. However, if you come from a home where there is no male influence you might turn out more emotional or even a good listener. Okay so all jokes aside, I think that the best indicator of how our children will end up is decided by how we as parents choose to implement both masculine and feminine traits in our child rearing. I think if we take our focus on trying to make our boys turn out like men and our girls turn into women we will see that they will naturally fulfill their own gender role. Don't worry so much that you forget about common sense! raise your children to understand the difference between genders and nudge them in the right direction. There are great qualities to be found in both men and women.
